Cyber Workflow
Reuse values between workflow steps
Replace copied text with a reference to a node’s input or output.
A workflow becomes reusable when one step can use the value produced by another. Dynamic inputs let you insert a node variable instead of typing a fixed result. You keep the connection to the source and let each execution supply the value.
Identify the value you need
Open a workflow with a source node and a later step that needs its result. Check the source node’s action and its listed inputs and outputs. A node’s name is not enough: choose the specific value the next step expects.
Keep execution order in mind. Referencing an output does not replace the connection between steps. The source must run before a later step can rely on its result.
Insert a reference in the dynamic input
In a field that supports dynamic values, use the variable picker. Fields with mention support also accept @ to open the available variables. Choose the source node and its input or output; the reference appears as a chip in the text.
You can combine fixed text and a reference, such as a short introduction followed by a result. Use the left and right arrow keys to move the caret around the chip and add text beside it. Delete the reference if you need to choose a different source.
Test with two different values
Run the workflow and inspect the step that consumes the variable. Check whether it received the intended value. A correct node with the wrong output selected can still produce an unexpected result.
Change the source input and run it again. If the later step follows the new value without editing its configuration, the reference is doing its job. If you remove a node or change its action, review the references that depend on it.

What to remember
- Select the exact input or output you need.
- A variable reference and an execution connection have different jobs.
- Test with a changed source value to confirm that the field is dynamic.
